IGARRA PHILANTHROPIST AND EDHA ASPIRANT HON. KAYODE OSHUKU MARKS ONE-YEAR REMEMBRANCE OF LATE FATHER
The ancient town of Igarra in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State witnessed a colourful gathering of dignitaries and community leaders as Igarra-born philanthropist and Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) Constituency II aspirant, Hon.Kayode Sunday Oshuku, marked the one-year remembrance of his late father, the respected community elder Ukanah Oshuku Eneyiye.
The event, held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, was a grand ceremony filled with pomp and pageantry, attracting traditional rulers from across Akoko-Edo, prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including the Akoko-Edo APC Chairman, members of the legislative arm, and other top government officials.
Family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered in large numbers to celebrate the life and legacy of the late patriarch of the Oshuku family, who passed on to glory on Feb 10, 2025.
The late Ukanah Oshuku Eneyiye of Igarra is survived by Six sons and six daughters, alongside numerous grandchildren and extended family members who continue to uphold his legacy.
Hon. Kayode Sunday Oshuku, the eldest son of the late elder statesman, led the family in hosting guests during the remembrance ceremony. The activities were concluded with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at All Faith Calvary Mission, Igarra.
Known widely for his philanthropic gestures across the community, Hon. Oshuku used the occasion to extend further goodwill by reaching out to school children. As part of the commemoration, he distributed free exercise books to pupils, a gesture warmly received by parents and educators alike.
Speaking during the thanksgiving service, Hon. Oshuku encouraged members of the public to practice love and compassion in their daily lives.
“Love remains the greatest gift humanity can share,” he said. “We do not know when our last moment will come, so we must learn to live in love and unity.”
As Hon. Kayode Sunday Oshuku prepares to join the race for the Edo State House of Assembly Constituency II seat, many political observers and supporters within the community are optimistic about his chances of securing the APC ticket, citing his longstanding commitment to philanthropy and grassroots development.
The remembrance ceremony not only honoured the memory of a beloved father but also reflected the enduring values of family, community service, and leadership that continue to shape Igarra’s social and political landscape.
