Grand Style

Oorenyi of Igarra, HRH Sunday
Azavonya Otaru JP, marked three
remarkable years on the throne in his country home, surrounded by
culture, tradition, and community admiration. Fellow traditional rulers,
including HRH Sunday S. Mayaki JP the
Oshemi Onayniyimi of Igarra, and HRH
Aliu Ogbodo Suleiman JP the Otu Gbajagbaja of Igarra, joined the
celebrations, underscoring the unity and prestige of the Eziobe traditional
council of Igarra.
The day opened with rain pouring in abundance, regarded as a divine testament to the monarch’s mantle,
a symbolic blessing tied to the Anonyete Royal Clan, The rain makers in the
community which the reigning king becomes the custodian and bringer of rain
especially in times of drought.
Throughout the ceremony, the clan’s drums were beaten, and traditional songs
were sung in admiration of the attendees and the monarch. HRH Otaru,
affectionately known as O'Orenyi “the
Rain Maker”, received high praise from his subjects for his tremendous impact on the clan and community in a
short time. Chief Attaigu Aweh, One of the Palace chiefs described him as “a bundle of
intelligence, a visionary leader, and a man who truly has the people at heart.”
As the festivities reached their peak,
attendees chanted in jubilation:
“Long may he reign! Ozi Igu Renyi Renyi —
the Bringer of Rain! O’Orenyioo O’Orenyioo! O’Orenyioo!”
The celebration not only honored HRH Otaru’s achievements and leadership
but also showcased the rich cultural
heritage of the Anonyete Clan, leaving a lasting impression of unity,
tradition, and progress in Igarra.
