IGARRA COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER COMES ALIVE

The Community Learning Centre was commissioned on the 27th of March 2017 by Prof. Abba Abubakar, The then executive Secretary, National Commission for Mass Literacy and Adult Education. The center was facilitated by an illustrious son of the soil Dr. John Edeh, who influenced and facilitated the establishment of this institution, meant for the whole of South South Nigeria to our dear local government.

The center is supposed to be a citadel for learning and acquiring skills for free. This was initially been fulfilled at the beginning until it encountered some setbacks due to lack of funding. most of the tutors were discouraged and they stopped coming. without tutor's students soon gave up and stopped coming too.

The place became a shadow of itself according to the coordinator of the center Mrs Rashidat Amadu she said she was the only one left but she didn't give up. she was always coming daily to open the place and ensure the equipment were secured. The coordinator who was already retired didnt want to leave the facility unattended. she kept coming praying that the government will come to her rescue.

Then just by divine providence Igarra community develoment Initiative ICDI a community focused Development Association who have been rigoruosly involved in alot of community development activicties stepped in to revitalize the center and restore everything to functionality.
They ensured tutors were employed, equipments were fixed and replaced with new ones. students were enrolled who are currently undergoing training.

It is safe to say ICDI has revived the center back to its former self and even better there is hope for the youths and once again anyone can learn a skill for free at the Igarra learning center. This is a very reassuring news for the people of Igarra, Akoko Edo and Edo state.
